Bilawal argued that these federal ministries should have been devolved to provinces following the 18th Constitutional Amendment. He criticized the current allocation of Rs1,500 billion in subsidies to the “elites” across various sectors, including energy and fertilizers. The PPP chief pledged to redirect these funds towards supporting laborers and farmers through cards.
Highlighting the significance of the youth in shaping the nation’s future, Bilawal emphasized the need to move beyond outdated political ideologies. He called for unity, stating that resolving the country’s challenges requires abandoning the politics of “hatred and division.”
Addressing economic and environmental concerns, Bilawal pledged to provide employment opportunities for Pakistani youth abroad. He recounted his efforts as foreign minister to facilitate overseas jobs for the country’s young population.
Underlining the escalating cost of living, Bilawal noted that the economic landscape has changed drastically. He highlighted the necessity of addressing basic needs, expressing that a family, which once sustained itself with a Rs35,000 monthly salary, now requires Rs70,000 to meet its essential expenses.
In terms of future plans, Bilawal proposed doubling salaries within five years to counter inflation. If the PPP assumes power, he outlined the introduction of specific cards, including the Haari Card for farmers, Mazdoor Card for laborers, and Nojawan Card for youth. The Haari Card, for instance, would redirect subsidies from mill owners to farmers.
Bilawal concluded by asserting that the Youth Card would offer financial aid to young individuals actively seeking employment opportunities, demonstrating the PPP‘s commitment to addressing pressing economic and social challenges.
