Express co uk reports that King Edward VII received the largest gem-quality diamond ever discovered as a birthday gift from the South African government in 1907.

The gem, which according to the publication is worth more than £392 million ($400 million) in current money, had to be divided into nine smaller diamonds because it was so big before being used to make stunning jewellery for the Royal Family, including the crown Queen Consort Camilla.

According to Goldsmith Chante Nieuwhof in a statement to express.co.uk, the stone is worth an estimated $400 million in today’s market.
