According to the sources, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials are in talks with the former Australian cricketer to coach the national team while there is a possibility of meeting Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to finalize the matter.
Shane Watson’s appointment may be officially announced if things are settled with the board.
This will be the first time that Shane Watts will coach any international team, the former cricketer’s first task as a coach will be the series against New Zealand, the schedule of which is expected to be announced next week.
The five-match T20 series between Pakistan and New Zealand is likely to start from April 18.
It should be noted that Shane Watson, who said goodbye to international cricket in 2016, is currently associated with Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Quetta Gladiator as the head coach.
The former cricketer has the honor of representing Australia in 59 Tests, 190 One Day Internationals and 58 T20 Internationals.
