Kansas City Chiefs’ prominent figures, including tight end Travis Kelce, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and linebacker Drue Tranquill, among others, expressed their dismay following a tragic shooting incident that occurred during their Super Bowl victory parade at Kansas City’s iconic Union Station on Wednesday.

Kelce emphasized his deep connection to the Kansas City community, conveying his solidarity with those who had gathered to celebrate with the team.

In a revealing account, Kelce’s mother, Donna Kelce, disclosed that the team was swiftly evacuated back to Arrowhead Stadium in response to the shooting. “Everybody who was with the team, they got us out of there really fast,” she shared with the Kansas City Star, highlighting the swift action taken to ensure the safety of the Chiefs’ players and staff.

Assuring the public, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas confirmed that all Chiefs personnel were unharmed and fully accounted for in the aftermath of the incident. This sentiment was echoed by the Chiefs’ Vice President of Content and Production, Robert G Alberino Jr, who confirmed the safety of the organization’s production crew, game day staff, cheer team, flag team, and mascots.

In a collective statement issued by the Chiefs, they expressed their profound sadness over the “senseless act of violence” that marred the conclusion of the day’s festivities. The National Football League (NFL) also joined in expressing their condolences, stating that they were “deeply saddened” by the day’s events. Furthermore, several other NFL teams, including the Ravens, Raiders, Titans, Rams, and Jets, extended their sympathies to those affected by the tragedy.

The shooting incident, which occurred shortly after 3:30 pm inside Union Station, resulted in over 20 injuries and the loss of one life, casting a shadow over what should have been a day of celebration and unity.
