In the lead-up to the highly anticipated Test series between Pakistan and Australia, pace bowler Shaheen Afridi expressed the team’s well wishes for Australian opener David Warner’s final Test series. However, he clarified that they aren’t banking on a favorable outcome for Warner.
Addressing the media before their initial practice session in Canberra, Shaheen acknowledged Warner’s illustrious career, commending his consistent excellence across all formats. “We would wish him good luck, but we are not hoping for a favorable conclusion to David Warner’s last Test series against us,” remarked the pacer.
Highlighting the significance of the series for Pakistan, especially considering their current top position in the World Test Championship points table, Shaheen, the 23-year-old left-arm fast bowler, emphasized the team’s focus on this crucial encounter.
“This is an important series for Pakistan as we are leading the World Test Championship points table at the moment,” he stated confidently.
Having squared off against the recently revealed Australian squad, Shaheen conveyed the team’s readiness for the impending challenge. “We have played against the recently announced Australia’s 14-member squad, and we are all geared up for this challenge,” he affirmed.
While acknowledging the team’s lack of experience in Canberra, Shaheen expressed optimism about the upcoming four-day match against PM XI, believing it will serve as valuable preparation for the series kickoff in Perth.
Addressing a recent viral video featuring players loading luggage onto a container truck outside Sydney airport, Shaheen clarified the situation, stating that the players collaborated to expedite the process due to time constraints. “We only had 30 minutes to catch our next flight, and we helped because there were just two people. We wanted to wrap it up fast and save time,” explained the fast bowler during the media interaction ahead of their practice session in Canberra.
