Pak vs Aus : MELBOURNE: Pakistan faces a significant setback ahead of the second Test against Australia as fast bowler Khurram Shahzad sustains an injury, casting uncertainty over the team’s performance in the ongoing series.
In an announcement on Wednesday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed that Khurram experienced discomfort in his left side during the first Test in Perth. “Following his complaint, after the Test match, Khurram underwent an MRI scan,” stated the PCB, noting that comprehensive details would be disclosed after the medical panel reviews the MRI reports.
The second Test is slated to unfold at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) from December 26-30.
During the initial Test, the Green Shirts were dismissed for a mere 89 runs while pursuing a challenging 450-run target. Pakistan’s aspirations for their first Test win in Australia since 1995 were dashed by the home team’s formidable pace attack, swiftly concluding the game within four days.
Perth Test match results : In their pursuit of 450 for victory, the visitors capitulated with Lyon securing 2-18, Mitchell Starc performance while Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood clinched three wickets each.
Australia declared on the fourth day at 233-5 after Pakistan was dismissed for 271 in their first innings, responding to the hosts’ 487.
