Lahore: In the 12th match of HBL Pakistan Super League, Peshawar Zalmi defeated Lahore Qalandars by 8 runs.
In the match played at Gaddafi Stadium, in pursuit of Peshawar Zalmi’s 212 runs, Lahore Qalandars scored 203 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Despite an unbeaten innings of 104 runs, Rassie van der Dussen could not lead the team to victory.
This is the fifth consecutive defeat of Lahore Qalandars in the tournament while Peshawar Zalmi managed to win their second match.
In pursuit of the target, the opening pair of Lahore Qalandars could not provide a good start. Sahibzada Farhan scored 15 and Fakhar Zaman returned to the pavilion after scoring only 4 runs.
Rasi van der Dusen scored 104 runs off 52 balls with the help of six sixes and seven fours and remained not out, but apart from him, none of the Lahore Qalandars batsmen could play at the crease.
Shai Hope 29, Ahsan Hafeez 20, Jehandad Khan 13 and Sikandar Raza lost heart by scoring only 1 run, Carlos Brathwaite remained not out with 6 runs.
For Peshawar Zalmi Naveen ul Haq took 2 wickets, Lockwood, Paul Walter and Salman Irshad took one wicket each.
Earlier, Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi won the toss and invited Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam to bat first.
Peshawar Zalmi, batting first, scored 211 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. Openers Babar Azam and Saeem Ayub gave the team a brilliant start of 136 runs.
Saim Ayub played a smoky innings of 88 runs off 55 balls which included 8 fours and 4 sixes.
Babar Azam scored 48 runs and Rowman Powell scored 46 runs. Asif Ali could score 6 runs while Muhammad Haris remained not out with 12 runs and Paul Walter with 2 runs.
Shaheen Afridi took 3 wickets and Jehandad Khan took one wicket for Lahore Qalandars.

Lahore Qalandars have played 5 matches in the tournament so far and lost in all five. On the other hand, Peshawar Zalmi have played their four matches so far, out of which they won two matches and faced failure in two matches.
Peshawar Zalmi was defeated in the matches against Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators, while they won in the matches against Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars.
